1. Mooloolaba Beach

Located conveniently close to the heart of the Sunshine Coast, this beach offers easy access to a thriving underwater world. Rent snorkelling gear from local shops and swim out to the rocky headlands, where you'll encounter colourful fish, graceful sea turtles, and perhaps even rays gliding through the water. Mooloolaba Beach is perfect for families and individuals looking to explore the wonders of the ocean without venturing too far from shore.
Mooloolaba to Alexandra Headland
This stretch has reef running all the way between Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland. However, being located between two rivers means it’s heavily affected by runoff, especially after rain.
Mooloolaba Rock Wall
Surprisingly rich with coral life on the inside, this area is ideal for snorkelling (while the outside is sometimes used for spearfishing). Stay alert for boat traffic as it’s close to the river mouth - we would recommend using a Dive Float with Flag for added visibility when snorkeling close to boat traffic.
2. Noosa National Park
Noosa National Park offers a stunning blend of scenic coastal hikes and excellent snorkeling opportunities, with iconic headlands facing both north and south to provide some protection depending on the conditions. While reef is limited, a small swell day can make for a rewarding snorkel—especially if you're prepared for a bit of a hike to reach the best spots. As you explore the park's rocky coves and secluded bays, you’ll encounter vibrant corals, playful dolphins, and diverse marine life. One highlight is the Fairy Pools, a popular snorkel spot known for its crystal-clear waters and rich underwater ecosystem. Be sure to pack both your hiking boots and snorkeling gear for a full day of adventure in this beautiful natural setting.
For access we would recommend parking either at the Noosa National Park or Sunshine Beach.

Accessible only by 4WD along the Great Beach Drive, Double Island Point offers some of the clearest waters and richest marine life on the Sunshine Coast. Access can be via the southern end (look for swell below 1m) or the northern end.
