Top 10 Spearfishing Destinations in the World

If you could pack your gear and go anywhere tomorrow… where would it be?

It’s a question that comes up all the time in the shop. Between customers, staff, and a few stories that probably get better every time they’re told, we ended up putting together a list of the ultimate spearfishing destinations around the world.

Some are close to home. Some take a bit more planning. All of them are places that deliver unforgettable diving.


1. Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Right in our backyard, and still one of the best spearfishing destinations on the planet. The reef systems are endless, the biodiversity is unmatched, and you’ve got everything from coral trout to Spanish mackerel.

When the conditions line up, it’s hard to beat.


2. Baja California, Mexico

If you’re chasing pelagics, this is the place.  big tuna, wahoo, cubera snapper - Baja is built for bluewater hunting and big reefies

It’s one of those locations where every drop feels like something big could appear out of the blue.


3. Papua New Guinea

Raw, remote, and seriously underfished.

Sitting in the Coral Triangle, Papua New Guinea offers some of the most untouched reef systems in the world. New Zealand can be tough. Conditions aren’t always forgiving, and you’ve got to work for it.

Warm water, healthy reefs, and consistent diving conditions make Fiji a favourite.

It’s the perfect mix of accessibility and quality, with everything from reef species to bigger pelagics cruising through.

Hawaii is not a place to take lightly — but for those who are prepared, it offers some of the most rewarding hunting in the world.

9. Indonesia (Raja Ampat / Komodo)

If biodiversity is your thing, this is as good as it gets.
