The inception of Dive Cave stemmed from the reality that the Sunshine Coast lacked a dedicated spearfishing and dive shop. Eager to fill this void, Kelly and Matt are enthusiastic about providing not only affordable gear to their local community, but are equally passionate about sharing their wealth of knowledge and expertise in the realm of spearfishing and diving. Matt Lewthwaite, a native of Durban, South Africa, born and raised, embarked on his spearfishing odyssey 12 years ago along the Durban coastline. In 2015, he brought his passion for spearfishing with him when he relocated to Australia, where his passion for the sport only intensified. Now, after 12 years of honing his skills and deepening his expertise, Matt is eager to channel his wealth of knowledge into assisting fellow enthusiasts. His mission is to guide those who share his passion for spearfishing and diving, ensuring they acquire the best equipment to enhance their diving experience.
Kelly Lewthwaite Co-owner of Dive Cave, grew up in Copacabana, on Australia's Central Coast. Snorkelling along side her father and brother as they spearfished the East Coast of Australia, Kelly's love for the ocean has now evolved into a mission for sustainability.
Over two years, her husband Matt has patiently taught her spearfishing, gradually guiding her into freediving. Currently pursuing her Level 1 certification, Kelly's journey is marked by a commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Dive Cave, under Kelly's leadership, stands out for its dedication to environmentally conscious spearfishing. The platform not only offers top-notch gear but prioritises sustainability in every aspect, from responsibly sourced materials to eco-conscious packaging.
